I write a lot about people, mostly women, in their 60’s. But a lot of us have been around for many years and, even though we don’t like to think it’s true — we do grow older.
I know some fellow writers that started in their early 70’s. And now I’m 65.
I find being 65 a complete unveiling of inspiration — for having gotten here (I thought old age only happened to other people) and the joy it brings me to be here (and not just because of the discounts).
I can’t speak for other people aged 65 any more than I could have spoken for other people aged 25 or 40. But I can say what it’s like to be me right now.
Overall, being 65 is like a period of much emotional contentment and it’s a lovely surprise. I didn’t expect that I would have as many sources of pleasure as I do nor did I expect that there would be some anxiety. I wish someone had told me this years ago.
I was always told I was an “old soul” so I actually looked forward to getting older and, indeed, it has become more firmly entrenched.
I have to note that I’ve the good luck all my life to have very good health. I do look after myself, eat…
