Great Depression Era Habits that Are Coming Back

Recently, I watched some interviews of people telling their stories from the Great Depression era. I think that, as time goes on, some of the skills they talked about are going to become more and more valuable.
One of the first things I noticed that Great Depression era families did was that they make their own bread. Not only did they make it themselves, but a loaf a day! Homemade bread is not only cheaper than store-bought bread but it’s a lot better tasting. These days, we can use a bread machine which wasn’t available during the depression era and make it much easier.
They also saved everything. They would even save the little strings that came on packages. They saved yogurt containers to use as planters and saved money on buying pots.
I think in today’s society we’ve gotten so used to just throwing things away when they’re inconvenient, a little broken, even when they’re too dirty.
They had a mindset of saving things. You’d be amazed at how much money you can save compared to the prices that stores are going to charge you for basically the exact same thing.
